  1. Hi Jim,
I bought the painting posted on ebay by teabagandyank. I now own 8 works by M. Devoe. The first one I ever saw was given to my parents as a wedding gift in 1948 by my uncle who lived in Iron River, WI. It is in the original mirrored frame and is in very good condition. The first one I bought was from an antique store in Duluth, MN. The owner said that the artist, M. Devoe, was from Superior, WI. I acquired all of mine in antique shops in MN and WI (except for the recent ebay purchase). I paid $29.00 to $50.00 for each. Three of them came in the original frames but the mirrors were broken or missing. I have reframed them for display but have the original frames that I intend to restore someday when I have the time and money to have new mirrors cut. Mine are all cranes, flamingoes or other birds (artistic license is evident; flamingoes do not have black on the face or wings). Some of them are kind of prehistoric looking and a bit bizarre. I could send you pictures of them so they could be posted here. You will have to instruct me how to do that. In my family these are known as my "weird bird pictures". I too am interested in learning more about the artist and seeing more of his work. Next time I'm in Duluth I could stop in that shop and see if anyone there knows more; it's been a long time.
